Students of the College of Arts and Humanities (CAH) of the University of the Immaculate Conception (UIC) held the “MagCAHsama Tayo” praise and worship on November 27, 2020 via Google Meet where the students, regardless of their religion, were encouraged to participate in the event.

Hans Marc Simplicio, a member of the Youth For Christ (YFC) and also the Campus Program Head of YFC based in Davao, was invited as a guest speaker of the celebration. Simplicio, a 5th year and graduating Engineering student from the University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP), openly talked about his personal struggles during quarantine.

From online classes to attending

masses online, the speaker talked about how the virtual world has conveniently become his space during this pandemic. He also shared how the new normal has improved his time to pray the rosary and attend Bible studies with his family every night. However, the speaker eventually spoke of his growing anxieties and how it made him feel like he was drowning.

“I was being unproductive, lazy, [and] doubtful…” Simplicio stated.

The gentle brother spoke of praising God in this time of pandemic and how one should never lose faith in oneself and above all, the Almighty Father.

Also, songs of worship such as “I Know” and “In Your Arms” by Liveloud, “Live For You” by Ablaze Music, and “Shout To The Lord” by Hillsong were played to liven up the celebration.

The programs that participated in “MagCAHsama Tayo” are BA English Language Studies, BA Communication, BA Psychology and BA Philosophy.
