Blazed a Trail

Updated: Feb 6, 2021

After years of attempts and planning, we have finally risen.

There was once an enormous bird, large as an eagle, who flew for many years under the sun's heat. It will live for 500 years, and on the day of its death, the winged animal creates a nest of boughs and spices, sets it on fire, and steps on it. Everything was incinerated and from there sprang a phoenix.

The journey to fashion this opportunity came from nothing, just like the bird in the story. We have always wanted this to fly, but we did not grasp on how to start. There were turbulences along the way that delayed the process. It took a while for us to soar, at last, the time has come for us to finally fly.

A team of witty and talented young students was formed to create something that can be considered one for the books. From the exceptional editor-in-chief down to the hardworking contributors, this group of astounding young scriveners proved that they could offer something special when working together. Through the camera lenses and the internet audio, everything was made possible. We only saw each other virtually, but it did not stop us from pursuing and following our plans because this is not only a project we started, but an ensign of who we are as proud students of the College of Arts and Humanities.

"We have finally established the very first newsletter of the College of Arts and Humanities, The Blazing Phoenix. News writing has been my asset as I am a Communication student, however there were challenges as it is the first time for me to lead a team. And that is why I commend my co-editors, contributors, and our adviser for helping me establish this newsletter. Now, we hope that students from the College of Arts and Humanities will be more liberated as they will be knowledgeable with the current happenings within our college. May the phoenix within ourselves continue to blaze and be eager to learn as we seek our own truth” imparted by Arita Liz Lopez, the Editor-in-chief and a third year college student taking Bachelor of Arts in Communication.

The Blazing Phoenix, represented by a fearless creature and a symbol of a pen to stand for the passion for writing, is the College of Arts and Humanities' first-ever official newsletter! We have always been brave and creative, burning brightly and upraised as brilliant young people. Hence, we wanted to use this as a mark of a new beginning. Red as fire and white as doves, like a match, we as phoenixes flare in the darkness. Long gone our fears and isolation for we are stepping out of the dim. This is our enterprise and emblem, because we are the children of the arts and language, and rightfully so.

With the assurance that we can continue spreading information within our college and others, we hope that soon we can fly higher and ignite more. Cheers to rising from the embers and finally spreading our wings!
